Have questions? Here’s what families most commonly ask before the first day of camp.
What should my child bring to Camp Tillicum?
Pack a nut-free lunch, snacks, a refillable water bottle (filled), hat, sunscreen, closed-toed shoes, and weather-appropriate clothing. On swim days, include a bathing suit, towel, and a life jacket if your child needs one.
Is swimming every day?
Campers have the opportunity to swim each day at Lake Nipissing, weather and water quality permitting.
Is bus transportation included?
Yes — the bus to and from Camp Tillicum is included in all camper fees. Drop-off is at the North Bay YMCA (186 Chippewa St W) by 8:50am. The bus departs at 9:00am sharp.
Can I drop my child off directly at camp?
Yes. Direct drop-off at Camp Tillicum is available from 9:30am, and direct pick-up must be by 4:00pm.
Can my child attend multiple weeks?
Absolutely. Many families register for several different themed weeks throughout the summer.
What if my child has allergies or dietary restrictions?
Please note any allergies or dietary needs at the time of registration. Camps are nut-aware environments; campers must bring a nut-free lunch each day. For medical needs, contact your local day camp team prior to the start of camp.
Can you accommodate an individual who needs additional support for special needs?
We unfortunately cannot provide inclusion staff at this time. Campers requiring extra support are still welcome at our camp locations, however families are required to provide their own support worker for camp. (EA, PSW, Respite Worker, family member over the age of 18, etc.)
There is no extra cost for support workers to attend camp. For more information, please reach out to Health and Wellness Administrative Supervisor, Emily McIlroy, at emily.mcilroy@ymcaneo.ca.
What is the payment schedule?
Are childcare subsidies available?
How do I register if my family already receives childcare subsidy?
Families requesting YMCA Day Camp registration using childcare subsidy must first complete the Childcare Subsidy Registration Request Form for their district. YMCA staff will review the request and complete the registration if space is available.
North Bay District
DNSSAB Subsidy Day Camp Registration Request Form
Please note:
- A separate form must be submitted for each child.
- Requests are reviewed and processed in the order received.
- Please allow approximately one week for a YMCA staff member to review your request.
- Submission of the form does not automatically register your child. Registration will be completed by YMCA staff based on space availability.
- If childcare subsidy approval is not received before the camp session begins, families will be responsible for the full cost of the program until approval is confirmed.
Is there financial assistance available?
Yes. The YMCA is committed to making summer camp accessible to every family. You can apply for financial support on our online portal.
Support will be determined based off of the financial statements provided. A staff member will review your application once complete, and will determine the level of assistance that can be provided. Typically, this amount is up to 50%, however in special circumstances we are able to go above this amount of support.
Once you are approved for financial support, this will automatically apply to all of our core service offerings, including membership, camp and programs.
If you have been approved for financial support, and are in need of further support, please reach out to Health and Wellness Administrative Supervisor, Emily McIlroy, at emily.mcilroy@ymcaneo.ca. We also have support available if you are need of supplies for your camper to attend camp.
