Northstar Frontier Services provides remote site services; catering, housekeeping, and management to remote work camps for construction, railroad, and mining projects in Canada and the United States.

We are looking for a Human Resources Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day human resources functions of the organization. This includes the following functional areas: recruitment, onboarding, compensation, benefit management, employee relations, performance management, training and development, and HR compliance. The Human Resources Manager is responsible for maintaining, developing and implementing programs to achieve organizational goals while fostering a quality-focused customer service environment.

Requirements

• College diploma or University degree in human resources management, business administration, commerce or related field
• Minimum of three (3) years of progressive HR Generalist experience
• CHRP designation considered an asset
• Demonstrates problem solving, attention to detail and conflict resolution skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to meet tight deadlines
• Strong computer skills in MS Office (Excel, Word) and HR software applications
•Criminal background check is conducted and paid by the employer as a condition of employment.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Create and maintain job postings on various recruitment platforms
• Provide assistance with recruiting, candidate screening and interview process
• Prepare and send onboarding documents to all new and returning hires
• Administer onboarding training as well as process background checks
• Maintain employee personnel records
• Provide backup for payroll processing
• Maintain and administer all employee benefits
• Support accommodation plans and return to work processes
• Communicate and answer inquiries regarding benefit plans
• Provide timely and effective coaching to managers, using the coach approach, appreciative inquiry, and active listening
• Act as a resource to managers for the full spectrum of performance management including goal setting, performance measures, assessments, monitoring, disciplinary/reward processes and termination when necessary
• Manage dispute resolutions and internal workplace investigations in accordance with policy and legislation
• Foster a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace
• Provide guidance and support to employees and managers relating to HR policies, practices, procedures, and legislation
• Ensure HR policies, procedures, and practices are continuously reviewed, developed and maintained while being compliant with legislative requirements
• Gather, analyze and complete data required for governing agencies
• Order and distribute uniforms, office supplies and bunkhouse supplies
• Assist with travel arrangements for employees as required
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the Canada Labour Code and Provincial labour code when applicable
